Santa Claus rides along with the Caloosa Jeepers Jeeps at Coconut Point Christmas Parade

Caloosa Jeepers Spread Holiday Cheer at Coconut Point Christmas Parade

In a festive display of community spirit, Caloosa Jeepers took part in the first annual Coconut Point Christmas Parade, adding their unique flair to the holiday celebrations. The event, held on December 2, 2023, featured a dazzling array of decorated Jeeps, each one adding to the festive atmosphere of the parade.

One of the highlights of the parade was the participation of Caloosa Jeepers in driving local dignitaries and bringing Santa Claus in for the tree lighting ceremony. Decked out in their holiday best, the Jeeps made quite the impression as they paraded through the streets, spreading holiday cheer to all who lined the parade route.

“We were thrilled to be a part of the Coconut Point Christmas Parade and to have the opportunity to contribute to the festive atmosphere,” said Caloosa Jeepers Board of Directors Secretary Amy Lounds. “It was an honor to drive the local dignitaries and to bring Santa in for the tree lighting ceremony. It truly felt like a special moment for our community.”

Adding to their festive spirit, members of Caloosa Jeepers also donated toys which were given to Toys for Tots, a charitable organization that collects toys to distribute to children in need during the holiday season. This act of generosity further underscored Caloosa Jeepers’ commitment to giving back to the community.

“The best part of being in the parade was seeing the smiles on people’s faces as we drove by,” said one member. “It was a great feeling knowing that we were helping to spread holiday cheer.”

The Coconut Point Christmas Parade was a resounding success, thanks in no small part to the participation of Caloosa Jeepers. Their commitment to community involvement and spreading holiday joy is a testament to the spirit of giving that defines the holiday season.

As the parade came to an end and the tree lighting ceremony began, the members of Caloosa Jeepers looked back on the day with fondness, knowing that they had helped make the holiday season a little brighter for their community. They look forward to participating in future parades and continuing to spread joy and goodwill wherever they go.

Press Release: Caloosa Jeepers to Host Go Topless Day Event for Local Charity

Caloosa Jeepers to Host Go Topless Day Event for Local Charity

Caloosa Jeepers of Southwest Florida Presents Their Sixth Annual Go Topless Day, Sponsored by Galeana Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram and Lazy Springs Recreational Park to Benefit Partners for Breast Cancer Care

FORT MYERS, Florida, May 10, 2017 – Caloosa Jeepers of Southwest Florida announces their sixth annual Go Topless Day event to raise money for Partners for Breast Cancer Care, a Lee County charity. Go Topless Day is an annual event where Jeep owners around the world remove the tops from their Jeep vehicles and enjoy the spring weather. The Caloosa Jeepers Jeep Club has participated as the Southwest Florida host of this worldwide event since 2012 and profits from merchandise sales are donated to Partners for Breast Cancer Care.

Go Topless Day takes place on Saturday, May 20th, 2017. The event begins with a 9:00 AM breakfast buffet at Mission BBQ (12984 S Cleveland Ave in Fort Myers) and continues with a convoy beginning at 10:15 AM to Lazy Springs Recreational Park (9591 Florida 82 in Felda) where the main event will begin at 11:00 AM. Admission to Lazy Springs is a discounted rate of $40 per Jeep, which includes all passengers if you mention that you are attending Go Topless Day. A portion of the gate proceeds will be donated to Partners for Breast Cancer Care.

Since 2014, the Caloosa Jeepers have used Go Topless Day as a venue to promote and raise funds for Partners for Breast Cancer Care, a Lee County based charity that is dedicated to funding breast screening, diagnostic testing and treatment for underserved Lee County women and men at no cost to them. “It was a way to take the tongue-in-cheek name of the event and make it relevant to giving back to our community,” said Caloosa Jeepers Treasurer Bobbie-Jo Buckler.

“This event has grown every year since we first participated in 2012,” said Caloosa Jeepers President Joel Lounds. “We started with a couple dozen Jeeps riding around Fort Myers Beach, and have expanded to include a day of raffles, off-road riding, food, and fun. We appreciate Lazy Springs Recreational Park hosting the main event for several years now, and are happy to welcome back Mission BBQ as our breakfast provider and staging area for our convoy for the second year in a row.”

Additionally, Galeana Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram in Fort Myers is co-sponsoring the event this year for the first time. Galeana will provide raffle prizes and will have several new vehicles on site for inspection by potential customers.

No Jeeper Left Behind 2017

Join the Caloosa Jeepers as we embark on our second trip to Windrock Park outside of Knoxville, TN. The park has trails from stock to double diamond extreme trails. The club was there in 2014 and had a great time. If you are interested in this excursion, here are a few details and information regarding the trip:

Trip Leader:

Phil Godbold

Trip Dates:

July 8 – 15, 2017

Required equipment:

  • A working, well maintained, Jeep that can be hauled or driven to Windrock, and BACK.
  • CB Radio
  • We ask that you participate in all the training leading up to the event to prepare for the trip
  • Demonstrate to the group going that you are serious about the trip…more on this later.
  • Tool kit & first aid kit, and knowledge on how to use both

Accommodations:

We will stay on-site at the park, which provides the following lodging options:

  • Cabin Rental: $175 – $300 a night. You are responsible for booking your cabins as soon as possible. Many options are available to share cabins with other families. They range from 2 bedrooms and up.
  • RV Sites: $38 and up a night
  • Tent Camping: $16 and up a night
  • Small 4 bed cabins: $100 a night

Rides:

The club will provide details for rides closer to the event. We will do a group ride one day for all Jeeps, and will also have rides for different level Jeeps throughout the week. You also have the option to ride into the Smokey Mountains, Gatlinburg, or Sevierville if you wish. Trip Preparation: This trip is not a Joy Ride, Mud Bog, “Hold my beer and watch this” trip. This is a serious trip into the mountains where things can get nasty real quick, not to mention it is 14 hours of driving so if you tear your rig up, we have to figure out how to get you home. Therefore, we will be having 2 driver meetings prior to the trip out at Lazy Springs. Those dates will be Saturday, April 1, 2017 and Sunday May 7th. We will also have a trip to Hard Rock Offroad Park in Ocala as prep for the trip, date TBD. Depending on the outcome of these, we
may have another meeting in June as a final prep. These meetings will cover the following:

  • Safety
  • Communication
  • Driving Skills
  • First Aid
  • Spotting
  • General knowledge of the people going on the trip.

Windrock Park is one of the best off-road parks in the southeastern United States. It will test your driving skills and the capability of your rig, should you choose to push the limits. We will always exercise safety first and follow the rules of the park. We will also be setting up a Facebook group for people committed to going on trip. Get the family and your rig ready!!! We are going to have a blast!!!!

We may decide to break the trip up into 2 days driving to Windrock if the members wish to do so. More to come on that.
